Overview
A residence permit is a document or card required in some countries/regions to allow a foreign national to reside or stay in a country/region. These may be temporary residence permit or permanent residence permit. The exact rules vary between countries or regions. In some cases, a temporary residence permit is required to extend a stay, and also, it can be an intermediate step to apply for a permanent residence permit.
Residency status may be granted for several reasons by more countries, and the criteria for acceptance of the application as a resident may be changed over time. Moreover, having a valid visa/residence permit does not necessarily mean that the investor has the right to work in the country. Investors must hold a work permit issued by the Ministry of Labor of the destination country to have legal rights for working.
